LinkStar Installation Pricing

Installation

Installation costs for LinkStar fixed site systems range from $495 for a wall-mount trimast installation to $895 or more for pole mounts or other custom installation types (see LinkStar Installation Options for photos and more information).

LinkStar equipment is far more substantial than conventional satellite VSAT gear. For example, 1.0 meter dishes use 2 3/8 inc hmount and 1.2 meter dishes use a 3 inch mount instead of the 2 3/8 inch size used by StarBand gear or the 1 ¾ inch mounts used by conventional TV dishes. LinkStar gear is more robust, larger and heavier than conventional systems. Accordingly, a far more substantial mount is necessary to ensure the stability and longevity of your installation.

NOTE: On-site wireless telephone or cell phone service availability is a non-negotiable necessity. No LinkStar system can be activated without telephone/cell phone service access.

Bear in mind that every installation is different, and no reasonable estimate can be made unless or until a site evaluation has been performed by a qualified StarLAN Consulting Services representative.

Site Evaluation and Service

Site Evaluations

A proper site evaluation is critical to any installation. Unlike our competitors, we don't just show up with the gear and hope for the best or walk away if for some reason the gear can't be installed. When we do it our way, there are no surprises for us or for you - and the job gets done.  We charge a flat rate of $50.00 for all site evaluations within 25 miles as traveled from point of origin (as shown below). Distance/travel premiums as shown below apply for longer distances. We use Suunto and Garmin GPS surveying gear to obtain the most accurate data possible for your site. The value that you receive from us is a survey that will assess your potential for access to all satellite services that StarLAN Consulting Services offers.

Contact us to schedule your site evaluation.

Service Calls

StarLAN CS customer Service calls: We value our relationships with our clients. We appreciate your business and we want more of it. We want your referrals! That's why you'll get our expertise at reduced rates. Non-StarLAN CS customer Service calls:  If we don't know you and you call us out of the blue for an emergency then our initial rates are going to be somewhat higher. If we establish a working relationship, we'll give you our preferred customer rates. Service calls to non-StarLAN CS customers are billed at a rate of $95.00 per hour with a two hour minimum.  Distance/travel premiums apply for distance traveled over the 50 mile limit as shown below.

Additional Services

General system troubleshooting, virus/spyware purge, wireless LAN setup, data security consulting and network engineering are available at reasonable rates. Please Contact us  for a discussion of your needs.

DISTANCE/TRAVEL PREMIUMS

Rising fuel costs oblige us to charge for travel from our place of business to yours. With gas at over $4.00 a gallon, we simply cannot afford to absorb these costs. Mileage figures are given for round-trip travel distances from the site of StarLAN Consulting Service's business operation in Spirit Lake, Idaho.

  • 25 miles or less:  No travel charge.
  • 25-50 miles:        $2.00 per mile for every mile as traveled over 25 miles from point of origin
  • 50-150 miles:      $2.00 per mile for every mile as traveled over 25 miles from point of origin
  • 150 miles+:         $2.00 per mile for every mile as traveled over 25 miles from point of origin plus overnight accommodations.

The 25 and 50 mile boundaries are illustrated in the map as shown here. Some locations will require circumvention of lakes and mountains by available roads. This is why distances are billed 'as traveled' rather than 'as the crow flies.'
