What is LinkStar?
LinkStar also offers far lower contention factors than
competing products - this has a direct impact on the
quality of your VPN and VoIP connections. The LinkStar™ subscriber terminal for SOHO, business and enterprise is a compact VSAT terminal providing a high speed two way broadband network connection. A typical complete system includes the indoor RCST (Return Channel Satellite Terminal, or satmodem) shown here and a 1.0 or a 1.2 M outdoor antenna, a 3-watt or 4-watt transmitter, otherwise known as a block up-converter or BUC, and Low Noise Block receiver (LNB). Mounting hardware will vary from installation to installation according to customer circumstances and requirements. Contact us for mounting options, information and pricing.
LinkStar™ is the highest performance, star-based VSAT system for service providers, ISPs, and corporate network managers who are seeking a system based on DVB standards. LinkStar's edge is in its dynamic bandwidth allocation that makes it more efficient and faster than other TDMA systems. Terminals can transmit data to the network hub at speeds up to 1.15 Mbps, with data downloads of up to 60 Mbps, satisfying bandwidth-intensive applications using IP data.
The solid state power amplifier in the RCST is connected to the outdoor antenna by either a 75 Ohm RG6 or a RG11 receive/transmit pair. This RCST requires access to an AC power source and the standard RCST package includes an Ethernet interface to ensure seamless integration with your network. StarLAN Consulting Services recommends that the RCST be installed in an area where fan noise is not a consideration.
