* Upload/Download speeds are NOT guaranteed. WildBlue is careful to state that these are the maximum speeds that you'll see. Most of the time, and barring problems on your side of the connection, you'll see 80% of these speeds most of the time, but can also see less. And download speeds are more consistent than upload.

** VoIP usage WILL NOT work in most cases because WildBlue blocks that kind of traffic. There may be some services that might work,  but this usage is not supported by WildBlue and you will quickly exceed the download/upload threshold limits as described in WildBlue's Fair Access Policy (FAP) document. If VoIP is a business necessity, then consider a commercial VSAT ISP for your satellite Internet connectivity provider.

*** IPSec VPN clients will function at dialup speeds or less. This is because WildBlue cannot forward and accelerate encrypted packet headers used by IPSec VPNs. SSL-based VPN clients may fare better, but this is as yet untested. If VPN connectivity is a business necessity, then consider a commercial VSAT ISP  for your satellite Internet connectivity provider.

**** Some remote connectivity technologies used for telecommuting require a fixed IP address. Even though WildBlue IP addresses seldom change, they can and do change every once in a great while. Your computer, if it is connected directly to the satmodem, or your router will automatically adapt to the change. In most cases. But if your telecommuting or remote access configuration depends upon a fixed IP address, then you'll experience difficulties. If you require  a fixed IP address, then please consider StarBand as your lowest-cost alternative.
